The Latino Legal Referral Program, created in conjunction with Indiana Legal Services, Bloomington; the District 10 Pro Bono Project; and the Indiana University School of Law, will connect private attorneys or legal service organizations with Spanish speakers seeking legal help. Fees will be based on individual legal needs and financial means.
Spanish speaking volunteers will take applications for civil legal matters at designated time, and the referral program will ensure, to the extent possible, that the Latino applicant Is matched with an attorney and an interpreter if necessary. CCL hopes that this program will help break down the barriers that keep Latinos in our community from accessing the justice system. The referral program is also developing a Spanish legal handbook with information on how to navigate the United States and Indiana's legal system.
